Bolga Basket

Mifuko's baskets are fantastic. Not only are they made from sisal with 80% recycled food-grade plastics or paper. They are made by women's self-help groups in rural villages and small workshops in cities in Kenya. These products are handwoven from tall elephant grass, which grows naturally in northern Ghana. The grass is dried, split in half and twisted together to make it flexible for weaving. Products made of elephant grass can be cleaned and reshaped by moistening them with water. Do not scrub the surface, machine wash, spin dry or tumble dry. Shape and allow to air dry to avoid deformation.
